A STUDY ON THE EVOLVING NARRATIVE OF GENDER EQUALITY AND ITS IMPACT ON MARITAL FIDELITY IN THE AGE OF TOXIC FEMINISM: A CASE OF LAGOS PROFESSIONAL CIRCLES
Background of the Study
The evolving narrative of gender equality has had a significant impact on marriage, family life, and perceptions of marital fidelity. While gender equality has largely been promoted as a positive force for improving women’s rights and empowering them within marriage, toxic feminism—a more radical version of feminist ideology—can challenge traditional notions of marital fidelity and commitment. In Lagos, a bustling professional hub, many individuals, especially within professional circles, are increasingly influenced by contemporary feminist ideas that advocate for greater autonomy and equality between the sexes, sometimes at the expense of traditional marital expectations.
This study will explore how the evolving narrative of gender equality, influenced by toxic feminist ideologies, affects perceptions of marital fidelity in Lagos professional circles. By examining the attitudes of professionals in Lagos towards marriage, fidelity, and gender roles, the research will assess the impact of these feminist ideologies on the institution of marriage.
Statement of the Problem
While the pursuit of gender equality is largely seen as beneficial for society, the impact of toxic feminist ideologies on marital fidelity, especially in professional circles, has not been sufficiently explored. This study will assess how these ideologies influence attitudes toward marital commitment and fidelity, particularly among Lagos professionals who are likely to encounter such ideas in their workplaces and social environments.
Objectives of the Study
To evaluate the impact of the evolving narrative of gender equality on perceptions of marital fidelity in Lagos professional circles.
To assess the role of toxic feminism in challenging traditional views of marital commitment among professionals in Lagos.
To explore how professional circles in Lagos respond to the tension between feminist ideologies and marital fidelity.
Research Questions
How has the evolving narrative of gender equality influenced perceptions of marital fidelity in Lagos professional circles?
What role does toxic feminism play in challenging traditional views of marital commitment among Lagos professionals?
How do Lagos professionals navigate the tension between gender equality and marital fidelity?
Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it examines the influence of feminist ideologies, particularly toxic feminism, on the institution of marriage in Lagos professional circles. The findings will provide insights into how contemporary views on gender equality are reshaping traditional views of marriage and marital fidelity, which will be useful for marriage counselors, gender activists, and professionals interested in understanding the intersection between gender equality and marital stability.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on Lagos professional circles and will explore how gender equality and toxic feminist ideologies affect perceptions of marital fidelity. The research will be limited to professionals in Lagos and will not examine other regions or non-professional groups. It will focus on attitudes and perceptions rather than personal experiences or broader societal changes.
